Determination of Electromagnetic Properties of Materials Using Flanged Open - Ended Coaxial Probe - Full - Wave Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
A full-wave analysis is applied to the scheme of measuring electromagnetic (EM) properties of materials over the frequency range of 0.3-4 GHz using a flanged open-ended coaxial probe. The excitation of complex waves, which include surface waves, radiative waves and radial guided waves in layered material media, is considered. With an accurate theory, this scheme may be used to measure both complex permittivity and permeability of the material simultaneously.

Error Analysis of a Two-layer Method for the Electromagnetic Characterization of Conductor-backed Absorbing Material Using an Open-ended Waveguide Probe
A two-layer nondestructive method for characterizing the electric and magnetic properties of lossy conductor-backed magnetic materials using a flanged rectangular-waveguide probe is examined. The two reflection measurements necessary to determine both permittivity and permeability are made by first applying the probe to the material under test and then applying the probe to a known-material lay...

~bstkzcthe open-ended coaxial probe with lift-off is studied the effects of air gap on dielectric measurements. Also, in using a full-wave inalysis, and an uncertainty analysis is presented. The field equations for the following terminations are worked out: (1) the sample extends to x in the positive axial direction, (2) the sample is backed by a well-characterized material, and (3) the sample ...
متن کاملRobust low cost open - ended coaxial probe for dielectric spectros - copy in laboratory and in - situ applications
High-frequency electromagnetic (HF-EM) measurement techniques, e.g. dielectric spectroscopy, give inside into soil physical properties which are related to soil/water interactions such as the soil water characteristics. The open-ended coaxial line technique offers a non destructive determination of dielectric spectra of fine grained soil. In this study, a commercially available Agilent high tem...
متن کاملComparison of Metal-Backed Free-Space and Open-Ended Coaxial Probe Techniques for the Dielectric Characterization of Aeronautical Composites †
The trend in the last few decades is that current unmanned aerial vehicles are completely made of composite materials rather than metallic, such as carbon-fiber or fiberglass composites. From the electromagnetic point of view, this fact forces engineers and scientists to assess how these materials may affect their radar response or their electronics in terms of electromagnetic compatibility. In...
متن کاملEfficient and Accurate Full-Wave Analysis of the Open-Ended Coaxial Cable
An efficient implementation of the full-wave openended-coaxial-line analysis is presented in this paper. The involved integrals are approached in such a way that the admittance is accurately calculated. Moreover, the calculus time is noticeably reduced. This technique is particularly useful when repeated analysis are performed as occurs, e.g., when measuring permittivity.
